Information & Insight You Can Use

THINK ON THESE THINGS – By Bud Turnage

Ever wonder what it was like back during the days when God sent all those pesky plagues on the Egyptians?  When Pharaoh wouldn’t let God’s people leave, God introduced them to a hoard of frogs, locusts, and flies.  Well come on out to our place and experience the grasshoppers.  Like an invading army, they are everywhere!  Can’t take a step without ten of those things jumping on you and they’ve eaten the leaves off more trees than I can count.  But do not fear Emma is on the case!  She is leading Abby in the charge to hold the line against the encroaching doom! Though it appears they are fighting an “unwinnable” battle.

News came to King Jehoshaphat; there was an invading army headed his way.  The Bible says that the good king was terrified because he knew there was no way Judah’s army could withstand the brute force of the encroaching infantry.  His first response was not a trip to the war room to see what could be done. Nope the Bible says he hit his knees and begged God to save his people. He admitted that they were powerless against them; he cajoled the Father to deliver the tiny nation from impending doom.  He called on the people to fast, and had them sing praises to God.  Ever feel impending doom is headed your way?  The Father can help!

Westgate's Avenues of Prayer

Westgate is fortunate to have four avenues of prayer involving the focus of the entire congregation.  They are:

            1.  The PRAYER  CHAIN.  This avenue is for critical or emergency situations.  To begin the prayer chain, please contact the church office or Flosi Stovall and the chain will be activated.

            2.  The BULLETIN LIST.  Names are included for several weeks for you to pray for at home.

            3.  The LONG TERM list is posted on the bulletin board.  Please stop and take names of people you’d like to pray for at home.

            4.  The ENCOURAGEMENT COMMITTEE frequently passes out names of those needing prayer.  Or, you may call your friends to pray for a specific person.
